چکیده

Name a single-celled eukaryote that boasts a small genome size, is easily cultivated in haploid form, for which a wide variety of molecular genetic tools are available, and that exhibits a simple, polarized secretory apparatus with a well-defined endoplasmic reticulum and Golgi that can serve as a model for understanding secretion. Got it? Now name a cell with all these attributes that contains at least a dozen distinct and morphologically well-defined intracellular organelles, including three distinct types of secretory vesicles and two endosymbiotic organelles. Not so sure anymore?

Microneme rhomboid protease TgROM1 is required for efficient intracellular growth of Toxoplasma gondii.

Rhomboids are serine proteases that cleave their substrates within the transmembrane domain. Toxoplasma gondii contains six rhomboids that are expressed in different life cycle stages and localized to different cellular compartments. Toxoplasma rhomboid protein 1 (TgROM1) has previously been shown to be active in vitro, and the orthologue in Plasmodium falciparum processes the essential microne...

استخراج آنتی ژن های دفعی- ترشحی انگل توکسوپلاسما گوندی در طراحی کیت الایزا اویدیتی (Elisa avidity)

Background and purpose: One of the transmission ways of the congenital toxoplasmosis is through the placenta to the fetus, therefore, its diagnosis at early stage is very important. Toxoplasma gondii parasite contains various antigens of which excretory-secretory antigens (E/SA) are used in designing Elisa avidity kit. The aim of this study was to compare the results of commercial kit and desig...

The Role of Clathrin in Post-Golgi Trafficking in Toxoplasma gondii

Apicomplexan parasites are single eukaryotic cells with a highly polarised secretory system that contains unique secretory organelles (micronemes and rhoptries) that are required for host cell invasion. In contrast, the role of the endosomal system is poorly understood in these parasites. With many typical endocytic factors missing, we speculated that endocytosis depends exclusively on a clathr...

Toxoplasma gondii targets a protein phosphatase 2C to the nuclei of infected host cells.

Intracellular pathogens have evolved a wide array of mechanisms to invade and co-opt their host cells for intracellular survival. Apicomplexan parasites such as Toxoplasma gondii employ the action of unique secretory organelles named rhoptries for internalization of the parasite and formation of a specialized niche within the host cell. We demonstrate that Toxoplasma gondii also uses secretion ...
